Turin — The Rector Major of the Salesians of Don Bosco, Fr. Ángel Fernández Artime, announced the theme of the 29th General Chapter (GC29) of the Salesian Congregation, which is “Passionate for Jesus Christ, Dedicated to the Young – For a faithful and prophetic experience of our Salesian vocation.” The theme was declared by the Rector Major on September 24, 2023, in Turin-Valdocco, during the celebration of the 154th Missionary Expedition. The date and venue of the GC29, will be held from February 16 to April 12, 2025, in Turin-Valdocco, and the Moderator of the Chapter, is Rev. Alphonse Owoudou, Regional Councilor for Africa and Madagascar. Fr. Ángel explains the rationale behind the choice of the theme and the Moderator, based on the consultation with the provinces and the vision of the Congregation at this moment. He concludes by highlighting the main objective and expectation of GC29, which is to offer a moment of planning and choosing priority lines of action for the future of the Congregation, in order to grow in feeling consecrated by God and be significant and prophetic for the young.
