English spelling competition in Don Bosco

2–3 minutes

On the morning of Monday, June 9, 2025, Don Bosco Technical School Kep Province organized an English Spelling Bee competition among students from all departments. The aim was to select the top five highest-scoring participants to represent the school and compete with 20 other candidates from various Don Bosco branches at the upcoming competition, which will take place at Don Bosco Sihanoukville on June 23, 2025.

The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Sen Ra, the School Director, and Father Ly Samnang, the Superior, along with brothers, sisters, teachers, and lecturers, who served as the judging panel. A total of 30 students from departments including Information Technology, Electricity, Secretariat Science, and Communication & Media took part in the competition.

The competition was held in the studio of the Communication and Media Department and began at 8:30 AM. Each participant had to spell three English words per round—one easy, one medium, and one difficult. After each round, those who misspelled a word were eliminated, while the remaining contestants continued to the next stage, where they were challenged to spell words as quickly and accurately as possible.

At the end of the intense competition, the school identified five outstanding candidates: one from the Communication & Media Department, two from the Information Technology Department, and two from the Secretariat Science Department. These five students will represent Don Bosco Kep and compete against 20 candidates from other Don Bosco branches at the competition in Don Bosco Sihanoukville on June 23, 2025.

This competition was not just a test of English proficiency, but also a valuable opportunity for students to demonstrate their personal abilities, communication skills, and strong competitive spirit. Participation in this event also helped encourage students to further apply their English skills in everyday life and in future employment.

As the organizer, Mr. Sen Ra expressed his excitement and strong support for the students who reached this stage, all of whom were among the top candidates. He emphasized that such competitions can help students develop their knowledge, language skills, discipline, and awareness of the importance of English in today’s society.

Additionally, Don Bosco Technical School Kep has shown its commitment to providing opportunities for all departments, allowing every student to showcase their talents, regardless of their field of study. This competition also serves as a great lesson and contribution to improving the quality of education and encouraging active student participation in school.
