Building a Sustainable Future for TVET education, Together with Don Bosco, BMZ, and SDF Transform Lives

1–2 minutes

On January 30, 2026, Don Bosco Technical School Phnom Penh hosted a vital meeting with a delegation from the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This visit was a major milestone, showcasing the actual impact of the Don Bosco Tech ASEAN project (2019–2025).

It was a privilege to welcome Mr. Hanno Spitzer, Head Advisor at BMZ, alongside our long-term partners from Don Bosco Mondo and our local industry collaborators, as well as the TVET department of MoLVT. Together, we explored how years of strategic investment have transformed our Don Bosco TVET schools into a model for sustainable education in Cambodia.

A central highlight was our success with the Skills Development Fund (SDF). Since 2023, under the leadership of SDF CEO H.E. Ky Sokkim, this partnership has directly benefited over 1,400 underprivileged youth. This collaboration is a game-changer for the Don Bosco Cambodia mission because:

1. SDF funding significantly reduces our reliance on international aid alone.

2. It confirms that Don Bosco’s training is recognized by the Royal Government of Cambodia and the private sector as essential for the economy.

3. It ensures we can serve the underprivileged youth for decades to come by leveraging national financing and partnership with local industries.

By combining the international support of BMZ and Don Bosco Mondo with the national vision of H.E. Ky Sokkim and the SDF, we have moved firmly onto a path of self-reliance. To all our benefactors and company partners: thank you for believing in our students and helping us turn a shared commitment into a lasting reality.
