Children and Youth Protection

At the Don Bosco Foundation of Cambodia (DBFC), we believe every child deserves dignity, safety, and the chance to dream of a brighter future. Our projects are dedicated to providing quality education, care, and protection for children and young people who are most in need—while advocating strongly for their human rights and inspiring others to do the same.

  • We welcome and serve:
  • Children under 18 who need a safe place to grow and learn.
  • Young people from underprivileged communities, offering opportunities where few exist.
  • Girls and young women of all ages, empowering them to thrive and lead.
  • Children and youth with disabilities, ensuring inclusion and accessibility for all.
  • Those who have faced hardship or danger, including survivors of abuse, human trafficking, child labour, life on the streets, domestic violence, or abandonment.
  • Anyone facing discrimination because of disability, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or other differences.

At Don Bosco, every child is valued, every story matters, and every dream is worth believing in.

Other Ways to Prevent Child Abuse in Cambodia:

  • Avoid giving money to children who beg. Many are exploited by adults for profit.
  • Do not purchase items from children in tourist areas, especially after 6 p.m. This encourages them to remain on the streets after dark.
  • Be cautious of children asking for money or goods, such as young children or babies requesting milk—these situations may be part of a scam.
  • Do not accept children as “tourist guides.” Politely ignore such offers, and they will not follow you.
  • Avoid “orphanage tourism.” Some orphanages exploit visitors for money. If you wish to support children in need, research reputable organizations and donate directly to legitimate programs.

The Don Bosco Foundation (DBFC) is committed to supporting children and youth from disadvantaged communities or those facing vulnerable situations, including the impacts of HIV/AIDS, human trafficking, abuse, child labor, or life on the streets. Our mission is to help these children complete their primary education while providing essential support such as nutritious food and other basic needs for both the child and their family.

DBFC also advocates for:

  • Children’s and youth rights
  • Women’s rights
  • Labour rights for young people
